VOYAGE / CIGAR PACKAGING
Voyage is to cigars what a flight is to beers. It's a cigar sampler featuring three cigars each from a different country along with a cutter and matchbox. The concept for Voyage came from the idea of traveling the sea to trade goods.
This was a fun project to work on as I rarely work with wood. The construction of inner pedestal in the box was constructed from two layers of very thin plywood. The top layer was shaped with a drum sander and a scroll saw to hold the cigars, cutter, and matchbox in place. Each layer of plywood was then wrapped in a black silky fabric.
The matchbox was carefully hand crafted from Cover Stock from Athens paper. Strike strips were bladed off of a store bought matchbox.
