JASPER JOHNS / MUSEUM BROCHURE
Jasper Johns challenged the tradition of fine art by including imagery from mass culture. His work often played with juxtapositions and opposites. His use of Abstract Expressionism expressed conscious control of compositional techniques. The imaginary exhibition was to be featured at D.C.'s internationally known contemporary art museum: The Smithonian's Hirshhorn. I created the museum brochure in a manner that expressed my feelings towards Johns' artwork. His focus on process and symbols interested me. I used high contrast and playful type, layered and intersected forms, but still adhering to a serious tone. My favorite part about working on this project is composing the layout to to reflect John's creativity and innovation.
