PORTISHEAD / ALBUM PACKAGING

"We Carry On" is the sixth song on this album my inspiration for this album concept. The binaural beats found in not just the song, but the whole album. A binaural beats isauditory illusion that occurs when two different tone sine waves, both with frequencies lower than 1500 Hz, with less than a 40 Hz difference between them , are heard through different ears. This illusion is sometimes used as an aid for hypnosis. These dual tones mixed with the dissonance rhythm of the drove me towards the visually hypnotic moiré patterns.

Binaural beats are to an effect similar to 3-D glasses in that different information is fed through different eyes or ears and combined in your brain to create one image. I've always been interested in optical illusions. My fascination must have started with 3-D glasses as an early age. Moirés push that fascination into my present day.
